Bodies vs bodies

2022 - in progress

Bodies vs Bodies investigates the borders of being human and body-like. How do we relate to a mechanical body? What is a body? Are we -and if so to what extent are we- able to coincide with extensions?

Currently I’m building a robotic arm that is able to mirror the movements of a human hand with the use of AI.

I started this research with a very straight forward and coarse robotic arm. The next step will be to explore the language of the shapes and borders of our bodies.  I’m particularly interested in the concept of “soft robotics”, developing my own shape- and material landscapes and researching different types of joints, etc.

I’m not looking for robotics that “copy” human bodies or behaviour, but rather question or dare them.
